What is So Civil About Civil Society: A Precarious Look at our Social Infrastructure
Join us for an evening of conversation with Karen Ball, President and CEO of CCVO (Calgary Chamber of Voluntary Organizations).
What is the role of nonprofits and how important is that role in providing services for Albertans? How do nonprofits contribute to community building? How big is the nonprofit community in Alberta? How do the government and nonprofits work together to provide much-needed services? Karen Ball will reflect on these and other challenges facing nonprofits.
Karen is a nationally recognized community leader with over 25 years developing the community and cultural landscape in Canada. She has held leadership roles with Calgary Arts Development, AU Arts, The Banff Centre, and the Canada Council for the Arts. Prior to joining CCVO, Karen led a consulting practice focused on building strong engaged communities for clients such as the University of Calgary, the City of Calgary, the Government of Alberta, and the Calgary Stampede.
